The School: Degree & Certification Programs
Professionals are needed now to answer the global needs of today. Not just to apply a band-aid to the underlying problems of hunger, diminishing arable land, dwindling natural resources, and the increasingly critical climate crisis, but to fully resolve and reverse these problems. Creating a new path for human existence by designing, building, and modifying new and existing communities to become self-sustaining, with reliable renewable food resources and incorporating environmentally sound green technologies.
With increasing numbers of Aquaponic farms, community-based systems, and self-sufficient communities, regulated standardized training and certification programs are becoming a necessity. New career fields are needed for personnel to plan, design, build, operate, and manage these community and commercial based systems, but they must be certified in each category and include training in both community and commercial applications.
The Aquaponics Institute of Technology will work with the US Department of Education, The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), US Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), resident and online accrediting agencies, and other agencies to develop highly competitive degree and certification programs to fit the growing global requirements.
Educational programs for grades K-12 will be developed to integrate into current and future state and private school sustainability programs within the United States and global communities. Involvement within the Future Farmers of America (FFA) programs within the United States is also planned. These courses will help to foster a new sustainability conscious generation.
The Aquaponics Institute of Technology will confer Associate of Science (AS), Bachelor of Science (BS), and Master of Science (MS) Degrees in programs related to Aquaponics, sustainability, renewable resources, green technologies, community development, and other environmentally focused subjects which are not found in other accredited institutions of higher education.
Graduates from these programs will be able to design, construct, maintain, and manage small to large scale renewable resource systems, redesign communities for the initiation of green strategies, and recommend alternative methods to current agricultural methods.
For those wishing to become certified in personal use or business based Aquaponics, certification courses will be developed in each area. For those wishing to start a commercial Aquaponics farm, courses will be created according to regulatory agency requirements.
